 Sun Aug 19: Sunday Persistent rain for southern Scotland and northern England in the morning, fading to drizzle and breaking up, but staying dull and damp. Extensive very low cloud, with fog over hills and around coasts in the south-west. Largely dry for the Midlands and south-east England, but rare sun. The far north of Scotland escapes largely dry. Mostly cloudy with patchy drizzle for Ireland. A brisk southwesterly breeze, strongest near the English Channel. Generally humid, highs 18 to 24C.
